Rodrigo y Gabriela @ Hammersmith Apollo

I always seem to get lost when I try to find the Apollo but S & I managed to rendezvous at the venue just a little bit past doors open. The line was massive however and snaking all over the place, so we headed to the nearest coffee place for a cuppa and a natter first.

Rodrigo y Gabriela are acoustic guitarists and so the stage was simply set with two chairs, a few projection screens and a bunch of speakers. The show was fab and so much fun - there was a lot of audience participation in the form of rhythmic clapping, humming and singing along. The screens showed in magnified detail how much skill these guys possessed across the guitar. The fingers and hands moved around at lightning speed and they use all parts of the guitar to make some gorgeous music... they both must have hella calloused fingers to be able to play at that pace, crikey!

And you know what they say, the guitar is shaped like a woman and if a man can play a guitar well... how well can he play a woman? ;)
