Happy new year!

Happy new year people!

Been meaning to post for months now and there are a few draft posts sitting here but alas it'll take too much effort to finish these. Christmas and New Year were great. I spent the Christmas break up in Luvverpewl with M's family. It was great to see everyone again and I was spoilt by the presents, very nice of everyone.

The few days between Christmas and New Year were spent back at work (boo!) but then it was time to rush off to the Peaks District for the New Year break. Such a lovely part of the UK and one which inspired Ms. Austen in Pride & Prejudice...... and what should be playing as a marathon when we got back but the BBC version which I love love love! I spent the whole afternoon on the couch watching the episodes back to back. Mmm sexy Mr Darcy after his lake swim *swoon* HOT

I've managed to do a fair bit in 2008 (yay!) and hope to continue the momentum in 2009. This includes a change in job at last! In a few weeks, I'll be moving into a role with a smaller company where one of my beloved ex-colleague currently works - it'll be great to work with her again! It'll also (hopefully) be an easier commute and more of a work challenge, I so want to look forward to coming into work again. Wish me luck :)

See you in 2009!

omfg best laksa ever !!!

I still rate every laksa I have against the best laksa I've ever had... at a UNSW eaterie. Every part of it was just SO YUM. I used to eat it so often that no wonder my tremendous weight gain got a head start! In my defense though, I didn't drink much of the soup ;D

I was browsing through my list of food blogs recently and came across a recommendation of the UNSW place! Just looking at the picture of the laksa bowl makes me slaver....sad but true.

Alas, no great or even good laksa in the UK so far :(

Save the cheerleader, save the world!

Why? Warren's 30th (uni friend)
Where? Bloomsbury Bowling
Theme? Yes! Superheroes or what you want to be when you grow up

The gals concocted the idea of a cheerleading squad for Waz and arranged the costumes, right down to the pom-poms made from plastic bags - Waz seemed delighted!

That's me on the end... the N... wearing the shortest skirt I've ever worn - EEK!

Jewellery 101

Now a post about something that I've been doing recently for fun, p.s. hola after so long.

I've always wanted to learn how to make pretty jewellery (mainly dangly crystal earrings that I'm fond of) but to my exact specifications and I took the opportunity when some girls at work decided to start a short-lived but interesting 'craft club'. Now when I finally decide I want to do something, I research obsessively and so many hours were spent reading up on tools/techniques and buying up supplies and possibly half a Swarovski crystal warehouse. These supplies included a cutie jewellery plier set that were perfectly sized for my ikkle hands!

I decided to make some earrings for B's wedding and to make that my first 'big' project, many cheap crystals and supplies were tested in order to perfect the loops and cuttings to make those pretty dangly earrings. I trawled online stores and Ebay looking for the perfect 'findings'.. which are the components that make up the earrings. Before starting on the final sets of earrings, I also decided to practise my work by making simple necklace and earring sets for each of the girls who attended the Hen's night, as part of the goodie bag - I think they likey.

Finally I managed to make three different pairs that could possibly be used. I wore one pair as I used crystals that complemented the bridesmaid outfits and the other pairs were worn in the events leading up to the wedding. No photos though but I took some photos of some of my early pieces and some jewellery sets that I made for my flatmates in accordance to their favourite colours :)

Until next time amigos.
