You right?

Even after two years in the UK, the question of "you (all) right?" still throws me.

Everyone says it... from your manager to the cabbie to the checkout chick. It's the UK version
"how're you (going)?". As with this phrase, I guess the standard answer is to murmur something and say/ask the same thing back, rather than take it as a question about your health or how awful you must look.

Recent convo with a checkout guy at M&S, went a little something like this:

Him: Hiya, you right?
Me: Hmm? Oh...yeah, I'm fine. Thanks
.....
Me: (shit, I've fucked this up again). You right?
Him: Yeahhh
